Bubble breathing
Blow slow, steady bubbles and watch them float away.
You'll need
- A bubble wand and bubble mixture
How to play
- Dip the wand and hold it in front of your mouth.
- Take a big breath in through the nose.
- Blow out long and slow to make the biggest bubble you can.
- Follow it until it pops.
Try saying this
“How slowly can you blow to make a big one?”
Your part
Blow bubbles beside them and watch where theirs go. Say what you notice, ‘That one floated high’, and stay quiet while they look.
If it stalls
- Blow a few for them to pop, then let them try.
- Practise the slow breath without bubbles first.
Short on time? Five bubbles blown slowly.
Why it's good for them: Blowing slowly is a built-in breathing exercise that calms children without being called one.
Not this one? Try worry monster, five senses check-in, five-finger breathing.
