Craft stick houses
Glue lolly sticks into tiny houses, forts and furniture.
You'll need
- Craft sticks
- Glue
- Scraps of paper and fabric
How to play
- Lay sticks in a square and glue the corners.
- Stack another layer on top to build the walls.
- Add a roof from card.
- Furnish with paper bits and move in a small toy.
Try saying this
“Who is going to live in your house?”
Your part
Build a small log cabin beside them. Describe their choices rather than directing, ‘You are making the walls tall’.
If it stalls
- Hold the sticks steady while they glue.
- Use tape if glue is too slow to dry.
Short on time? Glue a square of four sticks.
Why it's good for them: Patient gluing and stacking builds planning and fine motor skills.
Not this one? Try cardboard box car, paper cup towers, marshmallow structures.
