Kitchen rhythm band
Turn pots, spoons and tubs into a band.
You'll need
- Pots and wooden spoons
- Plastic tubs
- Rice in a closed jar
How to play
- Choose an instrument each.
- Copy a simple rhythm back and forth.
- Play loud, then soft, then very slow.
- Perform a finale for someone else.
Try saying this
“What instrument are you? Show me how it sounds.”
Your part
Copy what they play, then let them copy you. Share the rhythm first and keep your own ideas for later.
If it stalls
- Start with copycat. Play back what they play and wait to see what happens.
- If it gets too loud, play the quietest song in the world.
Short on time? One clap, one drum, then copy each other.
Why it's good for them: Making rhythm together builds listening, timing and shared joy.
Not this one? Try sound effect story, silly song swap, body beats.
