Slow-motion walk
See who can walk the slowest and notice every muscle move.
You'll need
- A clear stretch of floor or garden
How to play
- Stand at one end and agree on a finish line.
- Lift one foot as slowly as you can.
- Notice the heel, the toes and the weight shifting.
- Reach the end, then try as fast as you can.
Try saying this
“Can you move even slower? What does your foot feel like?”
Your part
Walk slowly beside them and say what your body is doing. Let them be the judge of who is slowest.
If it stalls
- Try it with a spoon and a pom-pom balanced on top for extra slowness.
- If they rush, race back fast, then slow again.
Short on time? Five slow-motion steps.
Why it's good for them: Moving slowly on purpose practises self-control in a game they enjoy.
Not this one? Try belly breathing, bubble breathing, worry monster.
