Paper cup towers
Stack paper cups into pyramids and towers, then knock them down.
You'll need
- Paper cups
- A flat table or floor
How to play
- Build a pyramid with four cups at the base.
- Try towers, bridges and walls.
- Count how high you can go.
- Knock it down with a ball.
Try saying this
“How tall do you think we can go?”
Your part
Build your own tower and share a gasp when it wobbles. Describe what you see, ‘It is getting taller’, and let them lead the knock-down.
If it stalls
- Make a small stack and wait. Often they add the next one.
- Use cups of different sizes to find new problems.
Short on time? Stack six cups and knock them down.
Why it's good for them: Stacking and toppling teaches cause and effect and tolerates mistakes.
Not this one? Try track and town, craft stick houses, cardboard marble run.
