Photo album tour
Flip through old photos and tell the stories behind them.
You'll need
- A photo album or a phone gallery
How to play
- Sit close with the album.
- Pause on a photo and ask what they remember.
- Tell the story behind it, then listen to theirs.
- Pick a favourite and find where it was taken.
Try saying this
“Which one shall we look at next? What do you remember?”
Your part
Let them choose the photos and the order. Repeat their memories back with a little extra, ‘Yes, you were splashing in the sea’.
If it stalls
- Tell a short story about a photo and then pass them the next.
- Focus on faces and ask what everyone is doing.
Short on time? Look at three favourite photos.
Why it's good for them: Remembering together builds language and a warm sense of where they come from.
Not this one? Try indoor picnic, picture book detective, when you were little.
