Scarf catch
Toss light scarves and catch them as they float down.
You'll need
- Light scarves or squares of fabric
How to play
- Throw a scarf up and watch it fall.
- Catch it before it touches the floor.
- Try catching with one hand, then on your head.
- Throw two at once and dash between them.
Try saying this
“Can you catch it before it lands?”
Your part
Throw your own scarf and say what it does, ‘It is floating slowly’. Follow whatever they try next.
If it stalls
- Slow things down with lighter fabric. Scarves are easier than balls.
- Just toss and watch together if catching is tricky.
Short on time? Five throws, catch what you can.
Why it's good for them: Slow-falling scarves give young children time to track and catch, which builds confidence.
Not this one? Try floor is lava course, chair tunnel crawl, balloon volleyball.
