Cress garden
Grow a green mop of cress in an egg cup.
You'll need
- Cress seeds
- Cotton wool
- An egg cup or small pot
How to play
- Dampen the cotton wool and press it into the cup.
- Sprinkle seeds on top.
- Draw a face on the cup.
- Water daily and cut your cress in a week.
Try saying this
“What do you think will happen to the seeds?”
Your part
Let them do the watering and the looking. Share what you notice each day and let them tell you what has changed.
If it stalls
- Check it together every morning for 20 seconds, and let them say what they see.
- No seeds? Try a bean in a damp paper towel in a jar.
Short on time? Plant a few seeds and give the cup a face.
Why it's good for them: Caring for something that grows teaches patience and responsibility.
Not this one? Try mini pizzas, pancake faces, shake-it butter.
