Simon says
Follow the commands, but only if Simon says.
You'll need
- Just yourselves
How to play
- Say ‘Simon says touch your nose’.
- Do the action only when it begins with Simon says.
- Be silly and trick each other.
- Let your child be Simon.
Try saying this
“Simon says... what shall we do next?”
Your part
Take a turn being caught out. Cheer for them being Simon, and use their commands.
If it stalls
- Do the actions yourself so they can copy.
- Skip the tricks at first.
Short on time? Five commands, five actions.
Why it's good for them: Listening before acting strengthens self-control.
Not this one? Try animal charades, hot and cold, i spy.
