Smoothie station
Set out fruit and yoghurt and let them design a smoothie.
You'll need
- A blender
- Soft fruit, such as banana and berries
- Yoghurt or milk
- Small cups
How to play
- Wash and chop the fruit with a grown-up.
- Choose three ingredients and put them in the jug.
- A grown-up blends. Cover your ears.
- Taste, name it and score it out of ten.
Try saying this
“What shall we put in? You design it.”
Your part
Taste the smoothie with real curiosity. Describe what you notice, ‘It is thick and pink’, and let them rate it.
If it stalls
- Offer two fruits and let them pick. Too many choices can stall them.
- Make a second batch with a different flavour and compare.
Short on time? Mash a banana with yoghurt and call it a smoothie.
Why it's good for them: Choosing ingredients gives a feeling of control and a good reason to taste something new.
Not this one? Try little bread rolls, cress garden, pancake faces.
