Indoor hopscotch
Stick a hopscotch grid on the floor with masking tape.
You'll need
- Masking tape
- A bean bag or soft toy
- A clear floor
How to play
- Tape a grid of squares and number them.
- Toss the bean bag on to square one.
- Hop over it, then pick it up on the way back.
- Invent your own grid with spirals or a long snake.
Try saying this
“Can you design a new hopscotch? I'll try it.”
Your part
Have a turn and mess it up on purpose. Cheer their attempts and let them redesign the grid.
If it stalls
- Skip the hopping and just step in each square, saying the numbers.
- Make the squares bigger or closer if hopping is hard.
Short on time? Three squares, three hops.
Why it's good for them: Hopping and counting together builds balance and number sense.
Not this one? Try scarf catch, balloon volleyball, balance beam walk.
