Cloud spotting
Lie on the grass and find animals, faces and ships in the clouds.
You'll need
- A blanket
- A cloudy day
How to play
- Lie on your backs and look up.
- Take turns saying what you see in a cloud.
- Watch how it changes shape.
- Draw your favourite when you get home.
Try saying this
“What does that cloud look like to you?”
Your part
Look up with them and describe the clouds you see. Accept whatever they spot, even if it looks nothing like it to you, and build on it.
If it stalls
- Be quiet for a minute. Looking is doing something.
- Point at one and say what you see, then ask what it is doing.
Short on time? Find one cloud animal.
Why it's good for them: Lying still and looking up slows breathing and opens the door to easy chatter.
Not this one? Try mud kitchen, pavement chalk town, shadow tracing.
