Toy shop
Set up a shop with price tags and play customers and shopkeepers.
You'll need
- Toys and household items
- Sticky labels
- Play money or buttons
- A bag
How to play
- Arrange things on a shelf and add price tags.
- Take turns being shopkeeper and customer.
- Count out the money and give change.
- Wrap and bag the purchases.
Try saying this
“Hello! Are you open? What do you sell?”
Your part
Be a customer who needs help. Ask for something specific, wait for the answer, and accept whatever prices they invent.
If it stalls
- Be a customer who cannot make up their mind.
- Swap roles so they can see how it is done.
Short on time? One item, one price, one customer.
Why it's good for them: Playing shop mixes counting, talking and taking turns in a way that feels like pure play.
Not this one? Try post office, playdough bakery, rocket launch.
