Five senses check-in
Notice five things you see, four you feel, three you hear.
You'll need
- Just yourselves
How to play
- Sit somewhere comfortable and take a slow breath.
- Say five things you can see.
- Then four you can touch, three you can hear, two you can smell.
- Finish with one thing you can taste, or one good thing.
Try saying this
“What can you notice right now?”
Your part
Do it with them and name your own finds quietly. Repeat theirs with a small extra, ‘A fuzzy blue rug’, then let silence do the work.
If it stalls
- Start with just sight and hearing. Two senses are enough.
- Take it outside where there is more to notice.
Short on time? Name three things you can see.
Why it's good for them: Noticing the senses brings a busy mind back to the present and helps big feelings pass.
Not this one? Try feelings faces, worry monster, belly breathing.
