Foil sculptures
Scrunch and squeeze tin foil into animals, robots and anything shiny.
You'll need
- Sheets of tin foil
- A tray
- A torch (optional)
How to play
- Tear a big sheet of foil and scrunch it into a ball.
- Pinch out ears, legs, wings or arms.
- Build up a second creature and make them meet.
- Shine a torch on them to cast shadows.
Try saying this
“What kind of creature is hiding in this shiny ball?”
Your part
Shape your own foil and describe what your hands are doing. Let them lead the story of who the figures are.
If it stalls
- Scrunch and squash together without a plan. Textures are interesting on their own.
- Give them a small job, like making a tail or a crown.
Short on time? Scrunch one ball, pinch out two ears.
Why it's good for them: Moulding foil is great hand work, and the shiny results make shadows and stories easy.
Not this one? Try scribble monsters, sponge painting, bubble wrap prints.
