Twig fairy house
Build a tiny house from sticks, bark and leaves in the garden.
You'll need
- Twigs and sticks
- Leaves, moss and pebbles
- A tree trunk or flat spot
How to play
- Choose a sheltered spot at the base of a tree.
- Lean sticks together for walls and a roof.
- Add a leaf door and a pebble path.
- Leave it for a fairy, a gnome or a bug.
Try saying this
“Who is going to live here? What do they need?”
Your part
Gather sticks and hand over what they ask for. Wonder what the visitor would think of each feature.
If it stalls
- Add a single stick and wait for their reply.
- Switch to collecting. Building can happen later.
Short on time? One stick lean-to and one leaf door.
Why it's good for them: Working with natural materials gets children outdoors and thinking about homes and care.
Not this one? Try cardboard box car, marshmallow structures, domino chain.
