Hot and cold
Hunt for a hidden object with only hot and cold clues.
You'll need
- A small toy to hide
How to play
- Hide the toy while your child waits outside the room.
- Say ‘warmer’ as they get close, ‘colder’ as they move away.
- Find it and celebrate.
- Swap and let them hide it.
Try saying this
“Are you getting warmer? Which way now?”
Your part
Use your voice to guide them gently. When they hide it, follow the clues with big reactions.
If it stalls
- Give more obvious clues like ‘boiling’.
- Hide it somewhere easy first.
Short on time? Hide a toy and hunt for it.
Why it's good for them: Listening and adjusting in response to clues builds focus.
