Floor is lava course
Cushions become stepping stones. Beat your best time.
You'll need
- Cushions
- Rugs or towels
- A timer
How to play
- Lay out a path of cushions across the room.
- Cross without touching the floor.
- Time each go and try to beat it.
- Swap: your child designs a harder course for you.
Try saying this
“Oh no, the floor feels hot! What shall we do?”
Your part
Let them build the course and make the rules. Be the one who tries it, wobbles and asks ‘Is this allowed?’
If it stalls
- Pause before fixing it. They may invent the rescue plan themselves.
- Make the gaps smaller if it feels too hard, or bigger if it feels too easy.
Short on time? Three cushions, one dash across the room.
Why it's good for them: Big movement burns energy and builds balance, planning and the confidence that comes from "I did it".
Not this one? Try animal races, balloon volleyball, animal yoga.
