Five-finger breathing
Trace round your hand slowly, breathing in and out with each finger.
You'll need
- Just your hands
How to play
- Hold one hand out with the fingers spread.
- Trace up the thumb with the other finger and breathe in.
- Trace down the other side and breathe out.
- Do all five fingers, then swap hands.
Try saying this
“Shall we trace our fingers and breathe? You lead.”
Your part
Trace your own hand beside them and breathe slowly. Keep your voice low, and follow their pace.
If it stalls
- Just do the thumb. One finger is enough to start.
- Trace their hand softly with yours while they breathe.
Short on time? One hand, five slow breaths.
Why it's good for them: Tracing fingers gives a slow rhythm to follow, and it can be done anywhere without anyone noticing.
Not this one? Try feelings faces, worry monster, bubble breathing.
